Here’s who can get each one, what it’s really for, how it asks before acting, and the part of your life none of them covers. Each runs on its own computer in the cloud, works through the apps and accounts you connect, carries on after you close the app, and checks with you before anything sensitive. Where they differ is who they’re for: - **Meta Muse** The everyday one. Free for most things, in its own app, on the web and in WhatsApp, with errands, plans and shopping in mind. - **OpenAI Dots** Always-on agents inside ChatGPT, aimed mostly at work and ongoing projects. - **Grok Bot** A small team of named Bots that share one cloud computer and get through real work across your tools. - **Claude Duet** The newest. Each morning it brings you what in your inbox and calendar needs you, and makes a start. None of them is built to know your wardrobe, your skin, your training or your sleep. It runs on its own secure virtual machine, uses Meta’s Muse Spark model and works across the web and the apps you already use. You can reach it in the Muse app, at muse.ai or straight from WhatsApp. **How proactive it is**Give Muse a goal and it makes a plan, works on it in the background and comes back at milestones or when it needs a decision. It remembers your preferences, and you can ask it to forget them. **Controls and privacy**Meta says Muse checks with you before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, can’t see your passwords or payment details, keeps your conversations out of Meta’s ad systems, and lets you opt out of your chats training Meta’s models. **Personal life**Muse’s launch examples are the most personal of the four: adjusting a training plan as your week shifts, turning a saved recipe reel into a shopping list, suggesting a dinner-party menu that respects friends’ dietary needs, plus shopping and booking travel. ## OpenAI Dots Maker OpenAI Launched 29 September 2026 Cost Included with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium Best for Ongoing work in ChatGPT OpenAI’s [Dots](https://openai.com/index/introducing-dots/) are persistent agents inside ChatGPT that keep working on a goal after the chat closes. Each has its own cloud computer, runs on GPT-6 Astra and, OpenAI says, can reach more than 4,000 apps through plugins. You talk to a dot in ChatGPT, Slack or Microsoft Teams. Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare workspaces can try a beta once an admin turns it on. [OpenAI’s help page](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001530-getting-started-with-your-dot) says personal Pro accounts can’t use Dots in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland. **How proactive it is**When you’re not working with it, a dot can look through your connected apps for things that need attention. OpenAI calls this proactive research, and says it only uses read-only tools. **Controls and privacy**Dots follow ChatGPT’s permissions, plus your own rules for what a dot may do on its own, what needs your approval and what it must never do. **Personal life**OpenAI’s examples are about work and projects. We found none about clothes, skin, fitness, food, sleep or family. ## Grok Bot Maker xAI (now SpaceXAI), with Cursor Launched Beta, 11 August 2026 Cost Included with paid Cursor plans or SuperGrok Best for A team of agents for real work [Grok Bot](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/overview) gives you Bots “you can keep around: AI teammates with names, jobs, and context that compounds over time.” Your Bots share one persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and a terminal, and you can reach them on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. **How proactive it is**Bots run routines on a schedule and keep their own memory and preferences. A main Bot takes everyday requests, and xAI has since added a [Primary Bot](https://x.ai/changelog/bot) that spots work it can take off your plate and offers to do it. **Controls and privacy**A Bot comes back when something needs your approval, and drafts wait for you before they’re sent. Purchases show an approval card. **Personal life**Grok Bot’s examples centre on email, code, payments and Slack, with shopping approvals. We found none about clothes, skin, fitness, food, sleep or family. ## Claude Duet Maker Anthropic Launched Research preview, 21 October 2026 Cost Included with Claude Pro and Max Best for Inbox and calendar [Claude Duet](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/17631495-get-started-with-claude-duet) is a separate app on iPhone and Android where Claude works as a proactive agent on its own cloud computer, running on Claude Opus 5.5. During the preview it’s for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, invited in waves from a waiting list, and not yet on Team or Enterprise plans. **How proactive it is**Each morning it looks across your email and calendar, picks out what most needs you and can make a start, such as drafting replies for you to check. It keeps going when you step away. **Controls and privacy**Anthropic says Duet asks before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything. If you can’t approve straight away, it finishes the rest and brings the request back later. **Connections**Named examples include Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly, with purchases through Link and Shop Pay. Microsoft 365 isn’t available yet. **Personal life**Duet’s examples are about your inbox, your calendar and the work they create, plus purchases you approve. We found none about clothes, skin, fitness, food, sleep or family. ## Which parts of your life they cover All four agents are general-purpose, so you can ask any of them about any part of your life. OpenAI’s Dots examples are all about work and projects, so none are marked. ## How to choose Start from what you want help with. They get tasks done by working through your apps, and their examples come mostly from email, calendars, documents and shopping baskets. In their makers’ own examples we found nothing about your wardrobe, your skin or your sleep, and only Muse mentions training or meals. They’re also chat-first. They help when you ask, or by working through the apps you already use, but none of them gives you a wardrobe to style from, a training plan to follow, a skin log or a week of meals. The rest of your life needs something else: real expertise in each part of it, and knowledge of you in that part. What’s in your wardrobe and who has already seen it. How your skin reacted to the last new product. How you recover after a heavy session, what’s in your kitchen, and what the people you love care about. None of them shows anything about clothes, skin or sleep. If those are what you want help with, you need something built for them: that’s why we built Retenna, with a full space and an expert for each part of your life. **Can I use Dots or Claude Duet in the UK or Europe?** Not on a personal plan yet. OpenAI says personal ChatGPT Pro accounts can’t use Dots in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, and Claude Duet’s preview is only for US subscribers. **Do these agents act without asking?** Each does some things on its own and asks before others.
